This cover has stayed immaculate and its subtle looks (went with black with the tan suede-like trim) are just what I needed to inspire me to read more. The materials are holding up nicely, hasn’t frayed or worn down at corners or elsewhere. As much as I admired the other hues, I chose the black so that there wouldn’t be a contrasting color against the Kindle - less distracting as I read. Well, that’s enough - any color of this cover should serve you well. I’m gonna go read now!I tend to lose my kindle, and my previous case broke in the corners after less than a month, so I decided to get another. I’m super happy with this one, due to the material I know it won’t break, and most important, it has a space for a “pen” but I used it to hang an air tag so I no longer lose my kindle, and that’s what has me more excited about this case. Love it!My 2018 Paperwhite actually fit my old M-Edge nylon case but what I found was with the flush flat screen with no raised plastic bezel my thumb was constantly sliding into the screen and flipping pages or highlighting. So I decided to find a new case that would put a tactile border around the screen. This case does that nicely. The problem with this case, which I was aware of from other reviews, is that the case has no positive snap for holding it open when in use. As such when you are using the hand strap, the Kindle flops about and must be restrained with your thumb. I also found the table top stand feature almost useless because of the lack of stability. I knew this when I bought the case but I figured I could rig something up with elastic. In my opinion, the magnetic method of keeping the cover closed, while great for wakening and shutting down the Kindle, is totally insufficient for ensuring the cover remains closed especially in a book bag or back pack.I tried various stretchy things that I had about the house and they worked for a bit but would relax and the Kindle would start to flop. My solution which works great is to use two Velcro 8" X 1/2" cable ties looped together to hold the cover both open and closed.Amazon sells these in 5 packs: search ASIN: B005RTRCY6Loop two cable ties so that the fuzzy (verses the scratchy) side is on the inside of the loop and will slide over the top of the case. Place the slotted ends so that they will be in the middle of front and back of the flat part of the loop verses the ends that must slide over the corners of the case. Adjust the length of the loop so that is moderately tight but still can be slipped over the end of case. Do not cut the excess length of the straps, it helps with the strength of the loop. Once you have the loop to the correct size, leave it together. The Velcro is too miserable to take apart and put together for each use. Leave the loop intact and slide it over the top or bottom of the case. It is a little stiff at first, but the loop will stretch out and assume the shape of the case but still remain tight. Slide the loop over the top or bottom of the Kindle when you have the case open. The width of the Velcro is less than the borders and does not interfere with the screen. Rock solid. The only problem is that the scratchy side of the Velcro tends to stick to soft fabrics and is something of a lint trap. Unfortunately if you turn the scratchy side inward it makes installation of the loop over the case difficult and it abrades the soft material on the inside of the back of the case when open. The loop works great for both the hand strap and the table stand, and it provides a much more positive restraint when the cover is closed. With the addition of this loop, I really like this case. The hand strap works really nice and my thumb no longer slides into the screen. The loop also makes the table top stand sufficiently stable.I will keep my eye out for a better loop, some sort of heavy rubber band or industrial elastic, but for now the Velcro loop is working great albeit a bit linty. My only other negative comment regarding this case is that I don't believe it will be as durable as my old M-Edge case. The materials seem lighter and cheaper. It is an attractive looking case even with a linty hunk of Velcro on it.Nice and sturdy looks greatI am not sure what folks mean about the cover ‘flipping open’ etc. I use this and have no troubles. But an idea to help those folks may be this: Whenever I want something to stay closed when not designed to, I get the self-sticking strips of Velcro, cut them to smallest workable size to disguise them, and put one piece on each item. Then, Voila! Item stays closed or in place. Most of the time I use the kickstand which functions very well for me. I sometimes open my iPad keyboard case and prop up my Kindle in this case against the screen. This helps for longer time reading at home on my ‘tv’ table (ordered on Amazon and so wonderful in front of my high back armchair!). I also like the security of the case’s style - nothing slips or slides out and the material is sturdy. The ‘hot pink’ is NOT hot pink, way more like a dusty rose, kind of faded. It’s ok. I kept it because it would not show much dirt etc. However, after 3 + years of steady use, its grimy looking enough to replace, I am back for another one just like the first since I used it so effortlessly. Sad to see price is up $3 in 3 years! I want a brighter color to spot it around the house, (where’s the ‘Find my Kindle’ on my Apple Watch??LOL-never in a million years would Apple support a Kindle!#2LOL!!!). ANYWAY, I’m trying the Lime green and going to use a Leather protector spray on it after it arrives. This usually helps with smudges on my suede shoes. BTW-because the leather is almost a ‘solid’ shade, it does show dirt, especially the microfiber edge on the front. I wipe it but I just like things to look like new and if they have been very well cared for. Hope this helps!Full disclosure; the stain is from me, it didn’t come with any defects! This case is so cute in person. It’s very soft and super sturdy! I’ve dropped my kindle from a low height a few times and it has kept protection. Very easy to put the kindle in and easy to hold. My only complaint would be how far out the stand goes, it just doesn’t seem usable for me. Also wish there was magnets to hold the flap open while reading, it just slips around while you hold it and gets annoying sometimes. Overall a great case and very happy with my purchase!I bought this for my 7th gen kindle, which I know it wasn’t made for. However, I couldn’t find any covers made for the 7th gen, and since the 7th and 10th were so close in dimensions, I figured this would work. It does work, with a couple caveats. It doesn’t quite close as well as I’m guessing it would with the 10th gen, but I think either way, the magnets could be stronger or there could be a better way to keep it closed. The auto wake/sleep also doesn’t work with the 7th gen, but that doesn’t bother me. The screen on the 7th gen also is slightly off from the screen of the 10th gen, so the top of the inside border comes down a little bit over the screen, but not enough to obstruct your reading. Overall, it seems like a nice, sturdy case and it’s very cute. My other one was falling apart, so I’m glad to have found a new one that will protect it.
